Leadership

Kevin Sloane, President and Founder

Kevin is one of the original founders of Smiling Moose Deli. His vision as an entrepreneur combined with 23 years of restaurant management experience, is the cornerstone of Smiling Moose Deli’s initial and continued success. Before creating Smiling Moose Deli, Kevin owned and operated various full service bar and restaurant concepts in Virginia and Colorado, most notably the Barrel House in Boulder, Colorado. In Kevin's current role as the President, he is responsible for day-to-day store operations and commensurate support functions. When he is not working on the Moose, you will find him kayaking Colorados rivers or snowmobiling the high country peaks. His wife Nicolle, and kids, Maddie and Luke, keep Kevin busy and happy all day long.

Bryan Brutsch, Operations Consultant and Founder

Bryan is one of the co-founders of Smiling Moose Deli. His experience in both fast-casual and full-service restaurants help him fulfill his current role of Director of Operations. Bryan oversees the day-to-day operations of the company store division, as well as conducts in-store training for all new franchise owners. His drive for success is evident whether he is working or playing.  In his free time, he is an expert skier and soccer player, and enjoys spending time with his wife Joanne, and daughter, Eilee.

Larry Hill, Director of Development

Larry brings years of construction and development experience to Smiling Moose Deli. In the past, he helped Quiznos franchisees construct and open new stores. His vast skill set includes construction management, contractor selection, municipality regulations, equipment procurement and architectural planning. In addition, Larry has experience in operations, franchise sales, and franchise services. At Smiling Moose Deli, Larry fulfills these functions and responsibilities. In Larrys spare time, you will find him on the golf course.  He is a true professional, and lives up to his nick name, "Thrill Hill", with everything he does.  His wife, Wendi, and daughter, Skylar round out Thrills family life. 

Scott Sloat, Director of Operations

Scott joined the staff of Smiling Moose in March 2008.  Scott brings 20+ years in the Food and Beverage industry in which ten were working for several major hotel chains where he managed multi –unit operations within each hotel.  Prior to joining the Moose, Scott owned and operated a wholesale retail bagel bakery and deli.  Scott’s experience brings the moose a vast overall knowledge of operations.  His organizational skills, system implementation and the ability to train and develop new store managers and franchise owners has been a welcome addition to the management team.When not working at the Moose, Scott finds time to be outside biking or running the beautiful trails of Colorado, but more importantly loves spending time with his family, wife Jan, his daughter Samantha  and son Jacob.

Kevin Brutsch, Director of Franchise Operations

Kevin has been with the company since they opened the doors in 2003. His amazing people skills and experience with operating a restaurant leads him to manage employees with high expectations and a strong work ethic.  Kevin’s determination and drive for the companies’ success is evident in his everyday actions.  While not at work, Kevin loves to run, ski, and play soccer.  His wife, Beth, 2 year old daughter, Addie, and 4 month old son, Jack, are usually right by his side.

Chris Lynne, Brand Manager

Chris is the youngest member of the Smiling Moose Deli team. What he lacks in years he makes up with creative talent and excitement. With a background focus in graphic design and marketing, Chris continually seeks ways to make Mo the Moose larger than life. When hes not in the Moose suit you can find him rock climbing, snowboarding or enjoying Boulder's winding canyon roads on his motorcycle.

Tony Marola, Area Supervisor and Project Manager

Tony met Kevin Sloane and Bryan Brutsch shortly after graduating college and pursuing his real world MBA as proprietor of a small pizzeria in Boulder.  A friend to the Moose from the beginning, he made the decision to join the Herd in 2007.  When he is not managing one of our front range locations he provides ongoing support and training to other managers and franchisees.  Additionally, he is responsible for the company's operational technologies and an integral part of our supply chain management.  You can often find him and his wife Jamie in the back bowls of Vail on a powder day, or cycling one of Colorado's majestic mountain passes in the summer.
